The Video Game Crash of 1983
In late 1983, the video game industry experienced losses that were more severe than the losses in 1977. These losses were likely due to the release of games that were extremely poorly designed, most notably the Atari 2600 port of Pac-Man and E.T. for the same system. The crash brought an end to the Second Generation of Video Game Consoles.
Eventually, The video game industry was revived with the release of Nintendo's Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Known in Japan as the Family Computer (Famicom), it was bundled with the classic game Super Mario Bros. and became an instant success. The NES many classic games, such as The Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear, and Final Fantasy.
